Nepali Panche and Dhimebaja on 'Australia Day'

In the multicultural parade organized on the occasion of Australia's national day, Nepali people represented the country with Nepali folk and traditional Panchebaza and Dhimebaza.

Every year in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, a parade is organized with the art and culture of different countries on the day of "Australia Day". Nepalis have been participating in this parade since a decade ago. In this parade, men dressed in Nepali Daura, Surwal, Dhakatopi and women dressed in sarees tried to introduce their art and culture by dancing to Nepali bazagaza. The participation of various multicultural communities including Nepalis is given great importance in this program.

In this parade organized on Sunday, citizens of 60 different countries including Nepal showed their art, culture and tradition. In which Nepal's Panchebaja, Dhimebaja drew everyone's attention. The participants in the parade were equally eager to take photos with the Nepalis, while the participants and spectators were equally eager to learn about Nepali baja and clothes.

This year's parade was attended by various Nepalese cultural and social organizations including Adelaide Panchebaja Group, Adelaide Nepal Society, Tamu Dhi, Guthi SA, Nepalese in Adelaide, Adelaide Nepal, Nepali Pathshala and others. In this parade, Nepali children of the second generation and their parents from Nepal are also enthusiastically participating. Journalist Balgopal Upadhyay, who participated in the parade, said that with the increase in the number of Nepalis, Nepalis have started to play an important role in such programs organized by the government. "This is not only helping us to participate in such programs, but also to have access to the local community and politics here." The indigenous people here have been boycotting this day, taking it as a day of encroachment on their land.
