Chandrakumar Ghimire, the newly appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom (UK), has assumed his duties.
The Nepali Embassy in London said that on the same day he left London on Friday morning, he reached the office in the afternoon and took charge. He is the 23rd ambassador in the London mission.
When Ambassador Ghimire and his wife Sarita Neupane Ghimire landed at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, they were welcomed by British Foreign Ministry Special Representative David Perry, Head of Deputy Mission Bipin Duwadi and other embassy staff.
Ghimire came to Britain about three weeks after taking oath before President Ramchandra Paudel. Ghimire, who came as ambassador to Britain, the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Nepal, said that economic diplomacy will be given priority during his tenure. He is determined to do his best to address the demands of the former Gurkhas for a long time.
Ghimire, who is involved in investment, business and public policy, is a former secretary of the Government of Nepal.
