The United Nationalist Nepali Organization UK celebrated the 303rd Prithvi Jayanti and National Unity Day in London. The birth anniversary of nation builder Prithvi Narayan Shah was celebrated on 27th of January.
During the speech, Chief Guest Acting Ambassador Bipin Duwadi emphasized that Shah's directives should be implemented even now. It was Prithvi Shah who laid the foundation for our identity and identity as Nepalis and urged everyone to follow his voice.
Special guest Royal Borough of Greenwich Mayor Councilor Jit Ranabhat said Prithvi Shah's teachings and strategy were not only based on war and military strategy at that time but are still relevant and timeless. Political analyst youth leader Shankar Tiwari compared Prithvi Narayan Shah with the French ruler Napoleon Bonaparte who fought in battle himself and said that he is an epoch-making and visionary personality.
Stating that there are always debates in history, but arguments should be based on evidence, he opined that Shah's contribution should not be forgotten and analyzed negatively. He also said that he is the second hero after Shah Buddha, the great hero who built the country.
Gorkhali intellectual Vikalchandra Acharya gave a detailed description of the old history of Gorkha district and shed light on the good leadership of Prithvi Narayan Shah. Discussing that period, Acharya also said that it is necessary to understand and know the correct facts about the multifaceted aspects of Prithvi Narayan. Biplav Khadka, a young activist of the anti-corruption street struggle joint civil movement and national karate player who is currently in the UK for higher education studies, emphasized that Prithvi Narayan Shah's anti-corruption slogan should be applied in practice. Now, when Nepal is stuck in the swamp of corruption, Prithvi Narayan's sermon should be implemented in a meaningful way. There is no time for young people to stay silent all the time against corruption.' Chairman of the
program Bharat Roka Chhetri, President of the United Nationalist Nepali Organization UK, thanked all the participants and supporters and announced that the fourth Prithvi Award was given to Kamalraj Paudel, an independent social activist from Bardia Gularia. Chairman Chhetri said that an independent intellectual who is not affiliated to any party and a person who has deep interest in Prithvi Narayan Shah will be given a reward of one lakh rupees.
The award was first given to political analyst and professor Surendra KC, the second award to political analyst Rajesh Ahiraj and the third award to tourism businessman and philanthropist Bharat Basnet.
