Relatives of those who died in a jeep accident on Monday night at Uchakot in Betalghat area under Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India have reached Nainital to collect their bodies. Relatives have prepared to bring the body home in Nepal on Wednesday.
8 people including 7 Nepalis died in the accident. In which 6 people are from Baijnath Rural Municipality of Banke and 1 person is from Bansgarhi Municipality 1 Babai of Bardia. 2 people were injured in the accident.
Pramod, the son of Bishram Tharu, who died in an accident, said that the bodies of 6 people of Baijnath Rural Municipality are being prepared to be brought to Nepal. "We have put all the dead bodies in the car, now we are ready to go," he said, "we are also bringing the dead bodies of those whose relatives did not come." He said that the body can reach the house by Wednesday night.
Ward president Bhagan Tharu said that except for one person, all the deceased belonged to Baijnath Rural Municipality-8. According to him, some of them belong to the same village and are even related. Those who died in the accident are Vishram Tharu, Antram Tharu, Ramdhiraj Tharu, Udayaram Tharu, Vinod Kumar Tharu, Tilakram Tharu of Baijnath Village-8 and Top Bahadur Basnet alias Gopal of Basgarhi in Bardia.
Top Bahadur belongs to Bansgarhi Municipality 1 Vawai of Bardia. Basnet's nephew Suraj Choulagai said that he was not sure whether to perform the last rites in Nainital or bring them home.
