The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged consumers not to stockpile more gas than necessary. According to the association, although the import and supply of gas remain regular, a temporary shortage has occurred because many cylinders were brought in for refilling at the same time.
According to Diwan Chand, president of the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, the volume of gas coming from India has not decreased. Compared to the past, around 100 bullets of gas are being supplied daily. "The Nepal Oil Corporation used to bring in a certain amount of gas and we would distribute it, and the same quantity is being supplied now," he said. According to him, the shortage in the market has appeared because consumers have started stockpiling gas. He stated that if consumers do not keep extra gas in reserve, the current problem will be resolved.
Bimal Kalakheti, a member of the LP Gas Industry Association, said that although they had suggested providing fully filled cylinders quickly, the delay has now had an impact. He said that as long as the required amount of gas continued to arrive under normal circumstances, there would be no problem.
Currently, there are 15 million cylinders in the market. Of these, 5 million cylinders are with gas depots. At present, there are 59 LP gas industries in Nepal.
