Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that the policy and legal complexities of the economic reforms announced in the budget should be resolved in 'mission mode'.
He made this statement during a discussion organized at the ministry on Thursday regarding the plans for reforms related to the Ministry of Industry for the implementation of the fiscal year 2083/84 budget.
In the discussion held in the presence of Industry Minister Gauri Kumari, the Finance Minister emphasized that each ministry should proceed according to a schedule regarding the policy and legal matters of economic reforms to be carried out in the areas of industry, commerce, and supply management.
Stating that most of the economic reform programs announced in the budget fall under the Ministry of Industry, he also said that cooperation between the two ministries would be increased to resolve the complications.
"Let the Ministry of Industry promptly move forward with the policy and legal tasks mentioned for reform in the budget," Finance Minister Wagle said, "Let us know what kind of support—be it experts, resources, or anything else—the Ministry of Finance needs to provide."
He also stated that the legal tasks required to create an investment-friendly environment, facilitate trade, and attract foreign investment should be completed within a few weeks.
In the discussion, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Gauri Kumari said that the ministry is doing its homework to advance the reform plans in the budget. She said that it is necessary to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and seek technical support for tasks that fall under the ministry's jurisdiction.
"There are eight reform programs under the Ministry of Industry in the budget," the Industry Minister said, "We have started work on some, and some are in the stage of being advanced."
The current fiscal year's budget has announced eight legal and policy reform plans under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies. These include amendments to the Companies Act, the Act related to bankruptcy, the Debt Recovery Act, and the drafting of new laws related to intellectual property protection.
With the implementation of the new fiscal year's budget, the Ministry of Finance has now prepared a schedule to regularly hold discussions with the responsible ministries and collect progress reports regarding the implementation of the programs announced in the budget.
