Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed his commitment to solving the problems of the capital market.

In a meeting with the capital market regulatory body, the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal, stock brokers and investors, Prime Minister Shah on Monday urged them to invest confidently in the capital market. Stating that the government is ready to solve the market problems along with formulating the necessary policies, Prime Minister Shah said that this market should contribute to investment growth, job creation and revenue. The participants in the meeting said that

‘The Prime Minister listened to us in depth. Then he said that investment growth and job creation should be achieved through this market, and the government is ready to provide the necessary facilitation,’ said Ambika Poudel, former chairperson of the Investors Forum who participated in the meeting. ‘The Prime Minister was very positive about the market. He said that he will soon direct the concerned bodies to correct the market irregularities and make the market clean and competitive.’

In the meeting with the Prime Minister that lasted for about an hour, Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal Chairman Gopal Bhatta spoke about reforms in the IPO issuance process and effective regulation. Nepse Chairman Amrit Lamsal spoke about the reform of the secondary market, and Priyaraj Regmi, former chairman of the Stock Brokers Association, spoke on behalf of stock brokers and investors. After listening to all three sides, Prime Minister Shah urged them to provide necessary suggestions and invest with confidence, as the government is committed to the development of the capital market, according to sources.
