The Biratnagar Customs Office has been able to collect only 85.52 percent of the revenue target set for the fiscal year 2082/083. However, there has been an improvement in the percentage of revenue collection compared to the previous fiscal year.

According to Chief Customs Officer Umesh Shrestha, the target for revenue collection was set at Rs 41.34 billion for the last fiscal year. Out of this, Rs 35.36 billion has been collected.

In the previous fiscal year 2081/082, the Biratnagar Customs had collected only 80.51 percent of the target. On this basis, the current year's collection rate appears to have increased by 5.01 percentage points.

However, the target could not be met as revenue equivalent to about Rs 6 billion could not be collected. Despite the improvement in collection compared to the target, revenue collection does not appear to have become more effective.

Stakeholders have stated that further improvements are needed in import-export activities, business environment and the efficiency of customs administration to increase revenue collection .
