The Stock Brokers Association has urged the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal to work for the development, expansion and strengthening of the capital market. A delegation led by Stock Brokers Association of Nepal President Sagar Dhakal met with newly appointed Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal Gopal Prasad Bhatta on Thursday and urged him to make the market transparent and competitive.
During the meeting, Chairman Gopal Prasad Bhatta said that he is fully committed to making Nepal's capital market more transparent, reliable, competitive and investor-friendly. He expressed his commitment to take all necessary initiatives for the development, expansion and strengthening of the capital market in accordance with the objectives and priorities set by the budget and policy-programme of the Government of Nepal.
‘It is mentioned that mutual coordination and cooperation between regulatory bodies, securities professionals, listed companies, investors and other stakeholders will be further strengthened for the sustainable development of the capital market,’ the statement issued by the Brokers Association said, ‘The Association is confident that the Nepal Securities Board will actively move forward in the direction of taking Nepal’s capital market to new heights through market transparency, good governance, protection of investor interests and use of modern technology.’
On the occasion, Dhakal, President of the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal, expressed his commitment to always provide constructive suggestions, support and cooperation for the sustainable development of the capital market, increasing investor confidence, market expansion and necessary policy and structural reforms.
During the meeting, positive discussions were held on the effective implementation of the programs set by the Nepal Government’s budget for the development of the capital market, market reforms, development of new financial instruments, investor education, expansion of technology-friendly services and institutional strengthening of the overall capital market.
The association's statement states that under Bhatta's leadership, the board will add new energy to the development and expansion of the capital market, further strengthen investor confidence, and make the capital market's contribution to Nepal's economic development more effective.
