In June 2026, 91,363 foreign tourists entered Nepal. According to data released by the Immigration Department and the Nepal Tourism Board, the number of foreign tourists arriving by air has increased by 19.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to a statement issued by the board, 76,425 foreign tourists arrived in Nepal in June last year. Similarly, 74,883 tourists arrived in June 2019, which was the highest tourism activity before the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's arrival in June is 22.01 percent higher than in 2019, the board said.
Regionally, the largest share of tourists arriving in Nepal in June is from South Asian (SAARC) countries. During this period, 48,254 tourists arrived from SAARC countries, which is 52.8 percent of the total arrivals. 41,809 tourists came to Nepal from India alone.
16,152 tourists from other Asian countries have visited Nepal, which is 17.68 percent of the total arrivals. 8,875 tourists from China, 2,497 from Japan, 1,765 from South Korea and 984 from Thailand have visited Nepal.
13,119 tourists from Europe have visited Nepal. Among European countries, 3,266 tourists from the UK, 1,892 from Germany and 1,267 from France have visited Nepal.
6,954 tourists from the Americas have visited Nepal, which is 7.61 percent of the total arrivals. Of these, 5,237 tourists from the United States, 1,298 from Canada and 219 from Brazil have visited Nepal.
3,900 tourists from the Oceania region have visited Nepal. This number is 56.35 percent more than last year and 57.17 percent more than in 2019. 2,694 tourists from Australia and 390 from New Zealand have visited Nepal from this region. Similarly, 674 tourists from Africa and 292 from the Middle East have come to Nepal.
Nepal Tourism Board Senior Officer Santosh Bikram Thapa said that tourist arrivals have been continuously increasing in recent months due to the expansion of international air connectivity, tourism promotion campaigns, publicity in major source markets, and the positive image of Nepal as a safe and attractive destination.
The board has said that it is preparing to conduct more promotional programs in major source markets including India, China, America, and Europe, targeting the upcoming tourism season.
