The lawmakers have drawn the government's attention to the effective implementation of the budget, the low level of capital expenditure and the proposed tax rates.

Participating in the discussion on the 'Finance Bill, 2083' in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, lawmakers from various political parties suggested accelerating development work and making the tax system fair. National Independent Party lawmaker Ashish Gajurel expressed concern over the low level of capital expenditure.

Presenting the data that only a small portion of the total budget is allocated for capital expenditure and that only 35 percent of it has been spent so far, he said that the tendency to work at the end of Ashad will weaken the quality of development. MP Gajurel stressed that the Ministry of Finance should coordinate with every ministry and agency to create a 'dashboard' to track the progress of projects and come up with an action plan to complete the tender process on time.

NCP lawmaker Parbati BK said that a large part of the budget is focused on current expenditure and repayment of principal/interest on loans, saying that the budget allocated for development is inadequate. She opposed the 'equality fee' tax imposed on education and health sectors and submitted an amendment proposal to remove the points. Emphasizing the need to reduce the gap between government and private educational institutions and health institutions, she said that the government should take the initiative to provide access to services to the poor citizens.
