An agreement was reached on Monday between the Airline Operators Association, Nepal and the Aeronautical Society of Nepal to collaborate with the aim of bringing stakeholders in Nepal's private aviation sector on a single platform and enhancing the sustainable development, safety and competitiveness of the industry.

According to a press release issued by the Airline Operators Association, the collaboration between the two organizations is expected to further systematize the exchange of knowledge, experience, research and technical capabilities in the aviation sector. According to the association's president, Pratap Jung Pandey, this initiative has been taken to increase coordination and collaboration among all aviation stakeholders in Nepal.

The Airline Operators Association, established 24 years ago, is a common organization of private airline companies in Nepal. It has been working on policy and professional issues related to airline operations. Similarly, the Aeronautical Society, established in 2005, has been conducting activities in the fields of aviation-related technical knowledge, research, training and professional development.

Both organizations have said that they have taken forward the collaboration keeping in mind the challenges and opportunities that have been rapidly occurring in the global aviation industry in recent years, such as digital transformation, automation, data-based decision-making systems, environmental responsibility and the use of new technologies. According to them, skilled human resources, research and institutional coordination are necessary to make the aviation sector future-proof in Nepal as well.

As per the understanding, joint programs will be conducted in the aviation sector for capacity development and leadership promotion, operations and engineering training, safety management, study and research on new technologies, production of skilled human resources according to international standards, capacity building of students and young professionals, expansion of the use of technologies such as digitalization and artificial intelligence.

Similarly, organizing national and international conferences, workshops, technical interactions, policy dialogues and knowledge exchange programs, expanding cooperation between industry, educational institutions and the technical community, and increasing coordination among various stakeholders in the aviation sector are also included as key areas of the understanding.

The Airline Operators Association of Nepal believes that this collaboration will contribute to making the aviation sector of Nepal safer, more competitive and more capable of facing future challenges. The association has also called on the aviation industry, educational institutions, the technical community and other stakeholders to participate in this campaign.
