Dubai-based airline Fly Dubai has announced that it will start daily direct flights to Pokhara, the tourist capital of Nepal, effective from September 23, 2026. The company opened bookings on its website from Thursday.

With this, Fly Dubai has become the first airline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to offer direct flights to Pokhara International Airport.  The company said that this new destination expansion after Kathmandu has further strengthened Fly Dubai's presence in Nepal.  The company has been successfully operating flights to Kathmandu for 17 years.

The daily flight, which will be operated from Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport, will be under a codeshare partnership with Emirates Airlines.  Due to the codeshare partnership, passengers will be able to benefit from convenient travel schedules, a single ticket, direct luggage transfers and access to the extensive international networks of both airlines.

Flydubai, which has been operating in Nepal since 2009, has served nearly 4 million passengers so far and operates up to 5 flights daily to Kathmandu during peak season.

According to Flydubai's Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith, Nepal has been an exceptionally important market for Flydubai since it launched its Kathmandu flights in 2009. He said, 'The launch of direct flights to Pokhara reflects our continued commitment to supporting the free flow of trade and tourism between the UAE and Nepal. We are proud to open up new access routes for both business and leisure travelers by establishing direct connectivity to Nepal's second largest city and another gateway to the market.'

Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Flydubai, expressed his delight at expanding its service area in Nepal with the Pokhara flight. He said the route will provide convenient and reliable connectivity to the UAE and the wider FlyDubai network, as well as to the Gulf countries, the Middle East, Europe and beyond. Passengers on this flight will be able to experience high-quality service in both Business Class and Economy Class.

The new daily service is expected to greatly benefit western Nepal by complementing the Kathmandu flight and providing international tourists with direct access to the region's vast eco-tourism, trekking and economic opportunities.
