Buddha Air has handed over the fuselage of an ATR-72 aircraft that was retired from flight service to the Nepali Army. 

Buddha Air has handed over the fuselage with the aim of assisting in the preparation and enhancement of the response capacity for possible air accidents, various threats and emergencies at the airport, according to a press release issued by Buddha.

Buddha Air Executive Chairman Birendra Bahadur Basnet handed over the fuselage to the Chief of War Operations of the Nepali Army, Lieutenant General Anupajang Thapa, at a program organized at the Buddha Air hangar at Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday.

Buddha Air retired the aircraft from service a few months ago after completing about 70,000 cycles of flight. Buddha gave the old ship to the army

Speaking at the aircraft handover program, Executive Chairman Basnet said that the Nepali Army has been continuously active in various responsibilities of disaster management, infrastructure construction, peace and security and national interest, and that it is a matter of pride for Buddha Air to collaborate with such a prestigious organization.

He expressed confidence that the handed over fuselage would be useful for emergency, threat and accident management preparedness exercises at the airport. The Nepal Army has stated that the fuselage will be effectively used in training at various alert levels under the airport emergency plan.
