The government has announced the establishment of an observatory at the base camp of Mount Everest with the aim of promoting astronomical tourism. Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has informed that a total of Rs 4 billion has been allocated for the development of the science, technology and innovation sector.
‘I have allocated funds for the establishment of an observatory at the base camp of Mount Everest to promote astronomical tourism,’ he said. Wagle has also allocated funds for the ‘Nepal Enterprise Facility’ that he is establishing to promote innovation. Finance Minister Wagle said that the government has arranged the necessary budget for the research, innovation and entrepreneurship promotion program to provide young scientists with research opportunities in the country.
