The Office of the Auditor General's annual report for the fiscal year 2081/82 mentions irregularities in the purchase and use of software at local levels. According to the report made public on Friday, point 4.1 of the Information Technology System (Management and Operation) Directive, 2071 issued by the Government of Nepal requires government bodies to prepare relevant documents and get them approved by the Department of Information Technology as per the standards while building an information technology system to be operated electronically.

'This year, 148 local levels spent Rs 115.356 million on software purchase, maintenance and renewal, but 15 local levels did not use software worth Rs 7.799 million,' the report said.
