Uttam Blon Lama has announced his team for the future leadership of the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN). From the eighth convention to be held on 29th Jestha, the current Senior Vice President Mohan Kumar Dangi will automatically become the President, while the Senior Vice President to be elected in 2029 after 3 years will automatically become the President.
Preparations are underway to amend the statute to allow the President to contest the election in the 2032 elections. Blon, who is the current Vice President, has also made public the 'IPPAN Vision 2029' commitment letter by contesting the post of Senior Vice President, including the current leadership, outgoing leadership and future leadership of IPPAN.
Blon's team includes Susan Karmacharya, Uttar Kumar Shrestha, Him Prasad Pathak, and Bikram Bista as Vice Presidents. TN Acharya is the General Secretary, Kavita Pokharel is the Deputy General Secretary, and Narendra Ballabh Pant is the Treasurer.
The secretaries are Suman Joshi, Abhigya Malla, Shankar Basyal, Vijay Mohan Bhattarai, Kubermani Nepal. The members of the working committee are Isha Shrestha, Pratima Gyawali, Anup Acharya, Jagat Bahadur Pokharel, Kadam KC, Baran Lamichhane.
Unveiling the manifesto, Vlon said that due to the contribution of the private sector, Nepal is free from load shedding, the share of the private sector in electricity generation has reached more than 80 percent, and there is a possibility of making Nepal a major energy hub in South Asia within the next decade.
The commitment letter states that the role of the private sector is even more important in the context of the government's target of generating 30,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 10 years, and concludes that rapid development of the energy sector is not possible without resolving PPA obstacles, transmission line shortage, policy ambiguity, electricity trade, financial challenges, and administrative complexity.
The manifesto places the greatest emphasis on PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) reforms.
Prakash Chandra Dulal and Mithun Poudel have already announced their candidacies for the upcoming elections.
