Construction entrepreneurs have protested, saying the government is not ready to address the problem of repeated unexpected price increases in fuel, construction materials, transportation and labor costs due to the West Asian war.

As per the pre-determined peaceful protest program set by the Federation of Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs, the Associate Member Coordination Committee submitted a memorandum to the directors general of the Roads Department and the Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Department at the center on Thursday and staged a half-hour sit-in at those departments.

Associate Member Coordination Committee Coordinator Nawaraj Shrestha submitted a memorandum to the directors general of the two departments and informed them about the dire situation in the construction industry due to price increases.

Meanwhile, all 77 district construction entrepreneurs associations affiliated to the federation submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer at the District Administration Office on Thursday and staged a sit-in at the office premises for an hour.

The Federation's General Secretary Shivahari Ghimire informed that a half-hour sit-in was held at district administration offices across the country, informing them about the situation where construction will be stopped due to the price increase in construction materials. According to General Secretary Ghimire, the district associations will hold a half-hour sit-in at the district-based Infrastructure Development Office, Division Road Office, Urban Development and Building Construction and Irrigation Offices on Friday and next Monday.

As part of the protest program, the Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs of the Seven Provinces will hold a half-hour sit-in at the Chief Minister's Office on Friday, said Mangal Bahadur Shahi, the Federation's Policy Deputy General Secretary and Spokesperson.
