Hitesh Golchha, Chairman and Director of Diwakar Golchha Organization, said that domestic industries have kept the country stable during difficult times like the blockade and Corona. On Wednesday, in the first session of the Kantipur Economic Summit 2026, he said that domestic industries are equally important like other sectors. He also said that the industrial sector in Nepal has not flourished due to policy instability.
‘If policy stability is needed in business, it takes 4/5 years for large industries with an investment of 2.3 billion rupees to be operational, stabilized and become a brand in the market,’ he said. ‘However, if the policy changes in Nepal are 5 times in 5 years, this is impossible. Where can we invest our money safely so that businesses can operate.’
He also recalled that even when there is one government, the policy changes 2/3 times.
‘If one person does something wrong, the law changes, not the policy. In such a situation, good governance is the main issue,’ he said. ‘After the people, the system that changes the law must be changed.’
Stating that Nepal’s economy is circular, he said that industrialization is equally important.
