The government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to transform Nepal's tourism sector in its policy and program for the fiscal year 2083/84. Under this, the Nepal Tourism Board will be restructured into a public-private partnership model and developed as an innovative organization.
It has been stated that the infrastructure, safety standards and international promotion of activities such as mountaineering, trekking, rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping and sky diving will be strengthened to establish Nepal as an adventure tourism destination. The goal has also been set to develop a new tourism ecosystem based on nature, culture and community.
The government has stated that it will develop new tourism destinations by giving special priority to Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Madhes and Koshi provinces through its policy and program. In addition, there is a plan to identify and promote at least 10 new trekking routes in the Himalayan, mid-hill and Terai regions.
