Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has urged private sector entrepreneurs not to follow the rumors that they are being arrested. Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Friday evening, he said this.

He said, ‘The government has not made any list of private sector entrepreneurs to be arrested. You should not follow the rumors, you are our partners.’ Speaking at the program, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle also said that the private sector is a partner in the government’s plan to build a $100 billion economy.

He also clarified the government’s five priorities. ‘The government’s first priority is good governance. The second is the revival of the economy, and the third is internal and external connectivity in the country. Similarly, the fourth priority is social investment and the fifth is the expansion of benign power through tourism, culture and history,’ he said.

Stating that the country is in a state of economic turnaround, he urged industrialists and businessmen to wait until the next budget for that. Citing the example of the progress made by neighboring India in advancing the country with political stability and honesty, he said that some indicators of Nepal's economy are similar to those of the time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power and now.

'When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power in 2014/015, some indicators of India's economy were comparable to those of Nepal's today. But in the last 12 years, it has taken a leap forward. It is time for us to follow the same path,' he said.
