The general meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) is also being held on Tuesday. The current senior vice-president Anjan Shrestha will automatically become the president from the general meeting. Elections will be held for the remaining office bearers.
Chief Election Officer Leelamani Poudel said that elections will be held for 73 posts on Tuesday. ‘A total of 137 people have filed nominations for 73 posts,’ he said. ‘The election will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday. More than 2,000 people will vote in the election. The election results will be announced only on Wednesday.’
Poudel said that elections will be held for four vice-presidents and the remaining member posts. ‘There will be 2 vice-presidents from the district municipality, 1 from the associate, and 1 vice-president, while the remaining members will be elected,’ he said. ‘Former office bearers or those who have won three terms in the working committee can be candidates for the post of senior vice-president.’
He said that there are 1,850 voters for the associate, 129 for the district municipality, 17 for the objective association, 8 for the binational and 12 for the founder.
