There has been a slight decline in the number of international tourists entering Nepal in April 2026 compared to the previous year. According to the data released by the Department of Immigration, a total of 107,934 tourists entered Nepal in April 2026.
This number is a decrease of 7.3 percent compared to the same month of 2025 (1016,490). Similarly, the number of tourists also seems to have decreased by 1.3 percent compared to the year before the Corona pandemic, i.e. April 2019.
According to the data, Indian citizens are the largest number of tourists entering Nepal. In April alone, 25,196 Indian tourists have visited Nepal. This is 23.3 percent of the total number of arrivals. However, this number is slightly lower than last year (25,933). There has been an encouraging improvement in arrivals from China. Last year, 9,037 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in April, but this year it has increased to 11,722.
The top 10 countries in April 2026 are India (25,196), China (11,722), Australia (5,327), Bangladesh (5,231), United Kingdom (4,886), Germany (3,143), Malaysia (3,085), Russia (2,637), Myanmar (2,626) and France (2,443).
This month has seen a significant decline in tourist arrivals from the Americas. Last year, 12,775 tourists arrived in April, but only 2,518 have arrived this year. In particular, the number of tourists from the United States, which has decreased from 10,053 to 210, has affected the overall figures. The number of tourists from the European market has also decreased this year. Last year, 30,249 European tourists arrived, but only 21,988 have arrived this year. 
South Asian countries account for 31 percent of the total tourist arrivals. Similarly, other Asian countries account for 24.8 percent. Arrivals from other regions have increased significantly to 15,360. This was only 7,448 last year.
The data shows that although neighboring countries have a strong influence on the Nepali tourism market, tourists from distant destinations such as Europe and America have attracted less.
