Mechi Customs Office has exported cardamom worth 10.7 billion 718 thousand rupees from Kakarbhitta till mid-Chait of the current fiscal year.
Cardamom exports have increased by 41.58 percent compared to the same period last year. 5,295 metric tons of cardamom were exported during this period, informed Ishwar Kumar Humagai, Information Officer of Mechi Customs Office. According to the customs office's data, cardamom worth 6.25 billion 1261 thousand was exported during the same period last fiscal year.
Most of the cardamom produced in Nepal is exported to India through Kakarbhitta. Earlier, it was also exported from Biratnagar and Jirganj. However, in recent years, most of the cardamom has been exported to India through Kakarbhitta. Cardamom is produced in 43 districts of Nepal.
Goods worth 19.43 billion 3532 thousand rupees have been exported from Mechi Bhansa till mid-Chait of the current fiscal year.
