MCA-Nepal has started the upgrading of the Dhankhola-Lamahi road section (40 km) of the East-West Highway. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya inaugurated the upgrading of the road section at a program organized in Dang on Wednesday.
He appreciated the use of cutting-edge technologies such as FDR and Superpave to ensure the quality and durability of the road. “The road upgrading is a progressive step for our province and its people, who depend on this highway. The road upgrading will not only make travel safer and more reliable but will also create new opportunities for local businessmen, farmers and entrepreneurs,” he said.
Similarly, United States Acting Ambassador to Nepal Scott Arbam said that the upgrading of the Dhankhola-Lamahi road section is an important milestone in the partnership between the two countries. “Through the MCC Nepal Compact, we are investing in high-quality sustainable infrastructure that reduces transportation costs, increases safety, and connects communities to markets and opportunities,” he said. “This project reflects our belief in Nepal’s future and our shared commitment to sustainable economic growth.”
Sushil Babu Dhakal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, said that MCA-Nepal’s investment is designed to complement the plans and programs of the Government of Nepal. He said that this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to building strong infrastructure and expanding economic opportunities for our communities. He expressed confidence that such a significant project will be completed on time.
Sanjay Paudyal, National Resident Deputy Director, MCC, said that the highway upgrade reflects MCC’s commitment to supporting Nepal in building strong and cost-effective infrastructure using cutting-edge technologies that ensure long-term performance. 
MCA Nepal has stated that the state-of-the-art construction technology 'Full Depth Reclamation and Superpave Asphalt', which is very beneficial from the perspective of quality, durability and sustainability, will be used for the upgrading and maintenance of this road.
By building strong and durable roads, reusing existing 'asphalt' materials and minimizing environmental impact, this method will help make the investment in road maintenance more reliable and cost-effective in the long term, the MCA press release states.

The road maintenance project is an important part of the MCC Nepal Compact and aims to reduce transportation costs and improve the condition of Nepal’s roads.
