33 bags of fertilizer brought in through black marketing have been taken under control in Triyuga Municipality-9 Rajabas, Udayapur.
The monitoring team seized 15 bags of urea, 10 bags of DAP and 7 bags of potash while the fertilizer received as subsidy through cooperatives for local farmers was being sold in the black market.
During a monitoring of hotels, shops and markets in Gairun, Rajabas and Chuhade areas along the Madan Bhandari Highway under the leadership of the District Administration Office on Wednesday, the fertilizer was found hidden in Kharpali Agro and Suppliers in Rajabas, Triyuga Municipality-9.
After it was found that chemical fertilizers were being sold illegally, the fertilizer was taken under control and sent to Triyuga Municipality for further investigation and action, said Bikram Pandey, Chief Assistant Chief District Officer of the monitoring team. Manju Khanal, the director of the suppliers, said that Dinesh Pokharel, who is also a veterinary technician at the Triyuga Municipality-16 Ward Office, brought the manure to her from Jyoti Cooperative in Chilawe, Jalpa.
She said that she kept it for sale after the ward chairman of Triyuga-16, Man Bahadur Rai, said that the manure can be sold, nothing will happen. Assistant Chief District Officer Pandey said that action will be taken against anyone who sells and distributes it in the market by black marketing when farmers are facing a shortage of manure.
Out of the 13 shops on the highway line that were monitored, 3 shops were found to have expired goods, which were confiscated and destroyed. He said that expired goods worth Rs 57,000 found in the manure and grocery shops have been taken under control. According to him, the grocery shops have been warned for the first time and released. The monitoring was carried out with the participation of the District Administration Office, District Police Office, Cottage and Small Industries Office, Triyuga Municipality, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.
