Four flights a week will be operated from Resunga Airport in Gulmi from today. Nepal Airlines Corporation has announced the schedule of flights from Kathmandu to Gulmi on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Earlier, flights were operated on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The flight schedule was added after the maintenance of the corporation's Twin Otter aircraft for domestic flights, Resunga Station Chief Suman Thapa informed. According to him, the fare has also increased with the addition of the corporation's flight schedule.
Station Chief Thapa said that the fare of Resunga-Kathmandu flights has increased with the increase in the price of petroleum products. According to the newly implemented fare, 10,902 has been fixed for Resunga from Kathmandu and 10,702 for Resunga from Kathmandu. The corporation had earlier fixed the fare from Kathmandu to Resunga at 7,500 and 7,300 for Kathmandu.
Station Chief Thapa informed that the fare has been increased by 3,402 rupees along with the increase in the price of petroleum products at Resunga Airport, which used to see a heavy influx of passengers in the past. According to him, the corporation is providing domestic flights with Twin Otter aircraft.
Except for rainy season and adverse weather conditions, regular air services have been operating at Resunga Airport in Gulmi for the last five months. Nepal Airlines Corporation has been operating the Kathmandu-Resunga service with a Twin Otter with a capacity of 18 seats.
Flights will be operated from Kathmandu on Sunday at 8:05 am and from Resunga at 9:05 am and from Kathmandu on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 6:15 am and from Resunga Airport to Kathmandu at 7:15 am, informed Station Chief Thapa. He said that since the air pressure is higher in the afternoon, flights are operated only in the morning from a technical point of view.
With the start of air flights in Gulmi, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting the district has also increased. Passengers say that the obligation to travel by land for about 16 to 18 hours to reach the capital has been eliminated. After the service is started, it will be possible to travel from Gulmi to the capital in 45 to 50 minutes by air. Nepal Airlines Corporation had started commercial air flights to Gulmi from 29 Baisakh 080.
