The 60th Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry is scheduled to be held on April 21 and 22, 2083. The meeting of the office bearers of the federation held on Friday decided to hold the general meeting, which was postponed due to the interim order of the High Court, on April 21 and 22.
Earlier, the 60th annual general meeting and election scheduled for April 29 and 30, 2082, were postponed by the interim order of the Patan High Court.
The postponement came after a joint bench of Justices Khadka Bahadur KC and Deepak Khanal issued an interim order to the federation on Thursday not to hold the general meeting. The Federation of Nepal Petroleum Transporters had filed a writ petition in the Patan High Court demanding to stop the general meeting of the FNCCI. Since it is seen that the petitioners will also be affected if the general meeting of the opposing organization is held without taking a decision as per the mandate issued on February 16, 2081, an interim order has been issued in the name of the opposing organization as per Rule 42 of the High Court Rules 2073, stating that the general meeting of the organization should not be held or not held until such a decision is made,' the court's interim order said. Along with this, the general assembly and election process of the federation have also been postponed.
On the writ petition filed by the Nepal Petroleum Transport Federation on Chaitra 22, a single bench of Justice Santhosh Parajuli had issued a short-term interim order on the 23rd. Thursday's bench also continued the same interim order.
The Petroleum Transport Federation had approached the court after it was not given the right to vote despite being granted membership in the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The court has issued the interim order as per the demand of the Petroleum Transport Federation.
