Nepal Oil Corporation has readjusted the prices of petroleum products to control the increasing deficit.
According to the new prices, which came into effect at midnight, the prices of petrol have been increased by Rs 17 per liter and diesel by Rs 25.
According to the new price list, petrol has been fixed at Rs 216.50 in the first category, Rs 218.00 in the second category and Rs 219.00 in the third category. The price of diesel has been fixed at Rs 204.50 in the first category, Rs 206.00 in the second category and Rs 207.00 in the third category.
Similarly, the price of LPG for cooking has been increased by Rs 100 per cylinder.
According to the details made public by the corporation, despite the price increase, there is still a deficit of Rs 16.65 per liter in petrol, Rs 109.50 per liter in diesel and Rs 416.37 per cylinder in LPG.
According to the corporation, even after the adjustment of customs duty and infrastructure development tax, it is facing a deficit of about Rs 10.21 billion 91 million every fortnight.
