Kiran Pandit has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. The decision to appoint Pandit as the Deputy Governor was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, informed Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Pratibha Rawal.

Pandit, the Executive Director of the National Bank, was in charge of the Foreign Exchange Management Department. He started his career at the National Bank in 2062 BS and has worked in various departments.

Two deputy governor posts were vacant in Nepal Rastra Bank since 25 Falgun 2082. The posts fell vacant in the National Bank after the five-year tenure of outgoing deputy governors Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Bam Bahadur Mishra. Timsina and Mishra were appointed as Deputy Governors on 27 Falgun 2077 BS.

The Rastra Bank Act provides for the appointment of deputy governors by the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the governor. Although the law provides for the appointment of two deputy governors, the government has appointed only one.
