The government has decided to provide a 50 percent discount on customs duty and infrastructure development tax on petroleum product imports.
The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday called on the government to increase the use of 'work from home' and electric vehicles to facilitate petroleum supply.
Announcing the decision of the cabinet meeting, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal said that the price adjustment was necessary because the Oil Corporation had incurred a loss of more than Rs 11 billion due to the supply of petroleum products in the past 15 days.
Currently, the infrastructure development tax is levied at Rs 10 per liter.
