After the bird flu disease was detected in a layer poultry farm in Bharatpur, the farm and the surrounding chickens and feed and other materials have been destroyed.

Layer chickens are raised commercially for eggs. Officials of the Animal Services Office of Bharatpur have said that this was done to prevent the disease from spreading elsewhere.

Head of the office Dr. Prabhat Neupane said that bird flu disease was confirmed in a layer poultry farm in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-4 on Chaitra 12.

After the bird flu was detected, the farm and the four forts of the farm were destroyed. Dr. Neupane said that in this process, a total of 17,950 layer chickens and 913 local chickens have been destroyed till Sunday. He said that special precautions have been taken to prevent the disease from spreading elsewhere.
