Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has directed to give priority to irrigation in areas directly related to agricultural production. Such instructions were given at a ministry-level briefing program chaired by Energy Minister Shrestha on Sunday.
He also directed to start the necessary consultation and preparation process at the secretary level from Sunday as per the 100-day action plan set by the government.
Pointing out the need to start studying the changing trends of disasters and weather, he also said that the data related to this would be an important asset for the ministry in the future.
He said that an internal meeting should be organized at the secretary level to determine priorities and prioritize projects that are in the final stages of budget implementation and can be implemented quickly, prepare a clear description of the overall progress, goals and target areas of the irrigation sector, and especially prioritize irrigation in areas directly related to agricultural production.
The Ministry has stated that a review of the budget and spending capacity of the previous fiscal year is necessary and that the budget could not be spent due to lack of technical capacity, and that the budget of the current fiscal year will be linked to productivity enhancement and result-oriented work.
It will prepare executive monitoring/on-site visits of priority projects and identify delays, negligence or obstacles based on the background study of those projects and take immediate initiatives to resolve them. In the context of budget and program preparation for the upcoming fiscal year, in-depth discussions and analysis will be conducted based on priorities, making the work more dynamic.
The government has stated that it will identify and prepare a list of obstacles in ongoing projects and take necessary initiatives to resolve them, and proceed with the work in a result-oriented manner by positively utilizing the technical manpower and experience available in the Ministry.
