Last year, 5,020 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 450 million were imported during this period, but only 3,100 kiloliters worth Rs 270 million have been imported in the current fiscal year. Last year, 180 million rupees were collected from its import, while this year, a total of 80 million rupees have been collected in revenue.

In total, up to Falgun of the last fiscal year, these five fuels worth Rs 122.26 billion were imported through this checkpoint, and 50.14 billion revenue was collected from their imports. In the current fiscal year, 52.15 billion rupees were collected from fuel worth Rs 123.6 billion.
Hari Gautam, President of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says that the decrease in imports of diesel and LP gas is a sign of a decline in industrial production and domestic consumption. He said that the increase in petrol imports is an indicator of the increasing use of private vehicles.
