White beans produced in Galdha, Palpa have been exported to Europe this year as well. The indigenous white beans produced in Nisdi Rural Municipality-5 Galdha have been exported to Europe since last year after being certified organic.

Farmers had collected white beans through the Galdha Social Entrepreneur Women's Cooperative in Dhunganabensi, Galdha. This year, 36,330 kg of the 40,000 kg demand from the Netherlands was met, said Ammaya Thapa Mashrangi, chairperson of the Galdha Social Entrepreneur Women's Cooperative. This year, they have been able to export beans worth about Rs 8 million.

She said the cooperative had sent about 20,000 kg of white beans to Europe last year as well. Chairperson Mashrangi said that the quantity demanded could not be sent due to low production. She said that since farmers have to compete with middlemen, they have not reached the quantity when they sell some of the amount at a high price.

Dilmaya Thapa, the manager of the cooperative, said that there is a partnership with Akista Nepal to export to third countries including Europe. She said that Akista certifies organic beans and sends them to Europe and other countries. Farmers here have said that they have also received good prices with the export of beans. Farmers who used to sell them for Rs 130 in the past are now buying white beans for Rs 175 per kg from the cooperative.

The beans that are graded by the foreign exporting organization are being bought for Rs 220 per kg. ‘A few kilos are lost during grading,’ said manager Saru, ‘The cooperative and the farmers are benefiting.’ It has become easier for farmers after starting to export abroad. Farmers are confident that the money from the transactions done through the cooperative will not be lost. She said that they are sent after grading and packaging.

Bean farming without pesticides will help in an environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural system. As they have been cultivating it in a traditional organic way, the beans here have now been certified organic. Farmer Narayani Dhungana said that farmers earn between Rs 20,000 and Rs 200,000 by selling white beans. The cooperative has stated that farmers in Galdha's Kathaidanda, Patangsar, Gejha, Dhanuwas, Gabudanda, Kharkadanda, Bahapur, Beloji, Dhachur, Kotthar and other areas are cultivating beans.
