The general assembly of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the largest umbrella organization of the private sector, is scheduled to be held on Chaitra 29 and 30. The meeting of the federation's executive committee on Thursday decided to conclude the general assemblies of the central federation on Chaitra 29 and 30 and all seven provinces by Chaitra 25.
The executive committee meeting was called on Thursday to fix the date of the general assembly of the central federation and the province federations, which was postponed due to the election code of conduct. Earlier, it was decided to hold the general assembly of all seven provinces from Magh 24 to Falgun 2 on various dates. However, it was stopped after the Election Commission did not allow the general assembly to be held on that date due to the election code of conduct. The same general assembly is scheduled to be held in the last week of Chaitra.
The statute of the federation provides for the general assembly of the central federation to be held on Chaitra 28 and 29. The general assembly of the provinces should be held at least one month before the general assembly of the center. Accordingly, the statute provides for the issuance of notice at least 21 days in advance for the general assembly of the center and province federations. But this time, since it was postponed due to the election, the executive meeting decided to hold the general meeting with a notice of 15 days instead of 21 days under the obstruction removal system.
This time, elections for central and provincial office bearers are also being held in the federation. That is why the general meeting of the federation is being viewed as a matter of interest. The candidates for the office bearers have also formed groups and started competing in the election.
