The Electricity Regulatory Commission has dismissed the complaint of Panchakanya Plastic Industries and Panchakanya Steel Pvt. Ltd. in the dedicated and trunk line arrears dispute, saying that the demands were not sufficient. The commission's bench on Chaitra 1 stated that the complainant's demands were not sufficient.
The two companies had filed a complaint demanding compensation by quashing the unjust decision of the Nepal Electricity Authority to pay the arrears of electricity to consumers who had taken electricity supply through dedicated feeders and trunk lines.
After the two industries refused to pay the electricity bills they had taken through dedicated and trunk lines for a long time, the authority gave them 21 days to disconnect the lines in Kartik. The industries had filed a review petition with the commission on Kartik on 20, paying the first installment against the same decision.
The hearing was completed by a five-member bench including Commission Chairman Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital. After the hearing, the commission has ruled that the authority has determined the tariff as per the legal provisions and the action taken before disconnecting the line after non-payment within the stipulated time is also legal. There is a provision for the industrialist to go to court if he is dissatisfied with the commission's decision.
