A meeting between the Embassy of Finland, Nepal and the Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NGCCI) discussed exploring opportunities to promote trade and economic cooperation between Nepal and Finland and other European Union member states.

During the discussion, Finnish Ambassador Petri Puhakka said in a meeting with the NGCCI Executive Committee that trade and economic engagement between the two countries is in small units.
He said that the Finnish government has been supporting Nepal in areas such as climate change, digitalization, e-governance and development cooperation.
NGCCI President Santosh Chandra Kunwar said, ‘NGCCI is an old bilateral chamber of Nepal. It can play an important role in promoting trade and economic relations between Nepal and Finland.’ He said that Finland is an important and promising country within the European Union and is interested in strengthening trade relations.
Nepal exports handicrafts, woolen carpets, ready-made garments, woolen goods, wood and bamboo products to Finland. Telecommunication equipment, machinery parts, industrial raw materials, fertilizers and electrical goods are imported from Finland.
Sara Elainen, Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Finland, expressed interest in strengthening trade and economic cooperation and informed about Finland’s development cooperation in digitalization and climate change initiatives.
