More than 1.5 million passengers have been affected by widespread flight cancellations over a four-day period at seven busy airports in the Gulf.
According to online aviation tracker FlightRadar, the affected airports include Dubai International Airport, Hamad International Airport, Zayed International Airport, Sharjah International Airport, Kuwait International Airport, Bahrain International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.
According to daily flight cancellations, 1,400 flights were cancelled on Saturday, 3,400 on Sunday, 3,400 on Monday and 1,300 by Tuesday morning. A total of more than 9,500 flights have been cancelled since Saturday, according to FlightRadar. More than 1.5 million passengers are estimated to have been affected, based on an average of 160 passengers per flight.
Airlines are trying to rebook affected passengers, while airport authorities are managing operational challenges. Passengers are requested to contact the relevant airlines for the latest information on the status of their flights.
