The NEA expects that the construction of substations and transmission lines costing around Rs 4.76 billion will help provide easy access to electricity services to the residents of districts including Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, and Baglung.

Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has conducted an on-site inspection of the line and substation of the 'Burtibang-Paudi Amarai-Tamghas-Sandhikharka-Gorusinghe 132 KV Transmission Line Project'. He conducted an on-site inspection as soon as the line was put into operation after the construction was completed.
He conducted an on-site inspection of the Tamghas (46 MVA) substation and line of Unachaur, Resunga Municipality-7, Gulmi; Paudi Amarai (46 MVA) under Musikot Municipality; and Burtibang (46 MVA) in Khaltubot, Dhorpatan Municipality-2, Baglung.
The NEA has informed that the 132 kV circuit transmission line from Tamghas Substation in Unachaur to Burtibang Substation, which was under test, has been brought under charge after further technical inspection in the presence of Shakya.
Shakya had accompanied Rajan Dhakal, Head of the Transmission Directorate of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kedar Raj Silwal, Director of the High Voltage Grid Development Department, and Achyut Babu Ghimire, Director of the Medium Voltage Grid Development Department, to conduct on-site monitoring of those substations and lines.
After the monitoring, Shakya informed that the NEA has taken the project seriously with the aim of making the electricity supply system strong, reliable, quality and trustworthy.
‘Transmission has started from here from Paundiamarai Substation and Burtibang Substation.’ Earlier, when the 33 kV line was installed, there was a problem in electricity supply 10-15 times a day,' he said, 'Now, after the 132 kV transmission line was charged, I have received information that the electricity is regular and the voltage is also good. This is a positive thing for reliable electricity supply.'
The Authority said that with the charging of these substations, the Authority is optimistic that the Authority will be able to provide reliable and quality electricity to industrialists and businessmen. 'Now, the Authority will be able to provide the necessary electricity to agricultural industries, small industries and large industries and businesses in these areas, and we are optimistic that these businesses will also flourish,' he said, 'We are optimistic that the investment made by the Authority in this area will help to further boost the economy here and create employment.'
He mentioned that the Authority is optimistic that even a small amount of help will be provided to stop the trend of people from villages or mountains going down to the Terai and going abroad.
He said that it has reached here through five substations, which will provide reliable electricity to the villages around these areas and make it easier to connect the electricity of private promoters to the grid. ‘When electricity is not available from 33/11 kV, it will be important for private promoters and the people of the village to be able to go through the 132 kV double circuit transmission line,’ he said, ‘There is a possibility of building pumped storage projects around this area. 132 kV has also opened the door for that.’
He said that the Burtibang area is known as an entrepreneur who has made small hydropower through his own efforts, and that it is currently in a state of displacement, and assured that there is an opportunity to facilitate it by having extensive discussions with them and connecting it to the authority’s network with the expansion of the network.
He said that the technical test conducted for two days was successfully completed, and now there will be regular electricity flow.
Project Chief Manoj Prasad Chaudhary said that this project has five substations from Motipur in Kapilvastu to Burtibang in Baglung district, and he was optimistic that the electricity supply in Gulmi and Baglung districts would become more reliable, regular and quality after the project comes into operation at full capacity.
‘Under this project, substations have been constructed at five locations from Motipur substation in Kapilvastu through Sandhikharka in Arghakhanchi, Unachour in Gulmi and Paundiamarai to Burtibang in Baglung,’ he said. ‘For the past two years, electricity had been distributed through 132 kV lines from Unachour substation in Arghakhanchi and Gulmi. Now, with the Burtibang section coming into operation, the entire structure has been fully implemented.’
The NEA has expressed optimism that the problems of voltage drops, overloads, and frequent power outages caused by long-distance power supply in hilly districts will also be reduced. The NEA expects that the construction of substations and transmission lines costing around Rs 4.76 billion will help in providing easy access to electricity services to the residents of districts including Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, and Baglung.
