A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sustainable Tourism Cooperation has been signed between the Nepal Tourism Board and Wakayama Prefecture with the aim of further strengthening tourism diplomacy between Nepal and Japan.
At a program organized at the Nepal Tourism Board conference hall in Bhrikutimandap on Monday, both sides expressed their commitment to cooperate in the field of joint promotion, exchange of knowledge and experience, and sustainable tourism development.
The MoU was signed by Nepal Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Deepak Raj Joshi and Wakayama Prefecture Governor Izumi Miyazaki.
Wakayama Prefecture Governor Izumi Miyazaki expressed his happiness at collaborating with Nepal, a country rich in history and culture, and expressed confidence that this MoU will further strengthen tourism promotion between the two regions.
The MoU prioritizes joint tourism promotion and marketing, exchange of tourism-related information and best practices, exchange of visits by experts and officials, communication and public relations cooperation, as well as promotion of culturally respectful and sustainable tourism. At the event, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha called the visit of the Governor-led team from Japan to Nepal a welcome step and said that this collaboration would be important for promoting sustainable and responsible tourism in the context of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations.
