On one hand, physical structures are being built. At the same time, land leveling work is also being done. Freight vehicles are busy transporting construction materials. Work is currently underway to build a dry port on the land of Gaurishankar Community Forest Area, Dodhara Chandani Municipality-1.
The Indian construction company, which started work in the area since last July, had initially built structures including housing. Now, the work of building the physical infrastructure for the dry port itself has progressed.
The master list given by the Indian construction company, which has been awarded the contract to build the dry port, for tax exemption to bring construction materials from India has also been approved by the ministry. Accordingly, the materials required for the construction are being imported from India, said Anish KC, engineer of the Intermodal Transport Development Committee. ‘Construction materials have started arriving now, and work is also underway,’ said engineer KC of the Intermodal Transport Development Committee, ‘After the master list is approved, the construction work will now proceed rapidly.’
According to him, the construction company will bring construction materials including cement, iron rods, furniture from India. An application has been submitted for tax exemption for the same. The application was approved only last week.

The bricks, gravel, soil and sand required for the construction of the dry port will be used from Nepal. The construction company will get a royalty exemption for that.

1,702 trees covering 42.36 hectares of the Gaurishankar Community Forest in Dodhara Chandni Municipality-1 have been cut down for the construction of the dry port. Currently, only 25.3 hectares of structures will be constructed. Administrative buildings, warehouses, kitchens, security, quarantine houses and load and unload sheds will be constructed in the area. In addition, walls will be constructed on all sides.
Engineer KC said that the Intermodal Transportation Development Committee plans to set up a liaison office or deploy a representative in the construction area. He said that efforts are being made for that.
