An International Dairy Expo is to be organized in Chitwan. In a press conference held in Kathmandu on Monday, the organizers informed that the International Dairy Expo has been organized by expanding the program following the success of the National Dairy Expo held earlier.

The expo, which will be held from Magh 25 to 29 with the slogan ‘Technology in the dairy industry, prosperity in the economy’, has been jointly organized by the Chitwan District Dairy Cooperative Association and the Chitwan Industry Association.

According to Chitwan District Dairy Cooperative Association President Kishor Bagal, the expo will reach a peak in promoting production, entrepreneurship, market and technology in the dairy sector. ‘The latest technology and practices in dairy production, processing and distribution will be encouraged at the expo.’ Small farmers, industrialists and traders will find opportunities for professional networking, training, grants and entrepreneurship at the expo, he said. ‘The expo will also create an environment for the export of dairy products by introducing technology.’

Along with an exhibition of advanced breed cows, the five-day expo also includes an oratory competition on the need and importance of dairy products and a quiz competition among cooperatives. According to Bagale, an interactive program in which working papers will be presented in the areas of milk production, marketing and policy has been arranged at the expo. Similarly, along with cultural programs, a dairy food festival, farmer/entrepreneur and cooperative award programs are also being held at the expo.

Central Dairy Cooperative Association President Ammar Bahadur Kunwar has also called on cooperatives across the country to bring their products and sell them at the expo. Rajendra Yadav, Executive Director of the National Dairy Development Board, said that since animal husbandry linked to the rural economy is the mainstay of the country's economy, this expo can benefit a lot. According to him, it will benefit Nepal's animal husbandry as individuals and organizations from SAARC countries will also be represented. The exhibition, which has free entry, will have more than a hundred stalls. The exhibition will be held inside the Chitwan Exhibition Center in Bharatpur 10.
