Nepal has recently participated in two major tourism fairs in the US and Europe with the aim of further strengthening its identity in the international tourism market.
The Nepal Tourism Board promoted ‘Destination Nepal’ by participating in the Travel and Adventure Show 2026 in New York and Fitur 2026 held in Madrid, Spain.
NTB participated in the Travel and Adventure Show held in New York from 24-25 January 2026 in collaboration with the Nepal Mountaineering Agencies Association (TAN).
Six Nepali tourism companies presented information on the various possibilities of adventure tourism, mountaineering and trekking at the event. American tourists and businessmen showed special interest in Nepal’s adventure tourism. The US is currently the second largest tourist source market for Nepal.
Meanwhile, Fitur 2026, one of the largest tourism fairs in Europe, was held in Madrid from 21-25 January 2026. More than 10,000 companies from 61 countries participated in the fair, and 30 Nepali tourism entrepreneurs participated in the fair in collaboration with the Tourism Board and the Nepal Travel and Tour Agencies Association (NATTA). The board has stated that Mukunda Prasad Niraula, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, has also participated in the fair along with businessmen to promote Nepal.
NTB has stated that influential international fairs like Fitur will play an important role in establishing Nepal not only as a trekking and mountaineering destination, but also as a culture, biodiversity and multilingual-multicultural destination in Spain and Western Europe. During the fair, a networking program called 'Nepal Connect' was organized to emphasize expanding collaboration with international tour operators.
The Nepali cultural program presented at Fitur's Nepal Pavilion attracted a large number of international audiences. The organizers say that the performances reflecting dance, music and cultural diversity have helped to identify Nepal as a vibrant tourism destination.
The tourism board believes that participation in these two international fairs has made a significant contribution towards promoting Nepal's tourism in North America and Europe, expanding business cooperation and sustainable tourism development.
