Urea fertilizer purchased by the Government of Nepal from the Government of India through the 'G2G' process has started entering through the Birgunj border.
According to Durga Prasad Pandey, head of the Madhesh Provincial Office of Agricultural Materials Company, Birgunj, the first railway rack carrying this consignment of urea fertilizer arrived at the Birgunj border post in the last week of Poush. A railway rack usually carries 2,500 tons of fertilizer.
The Indian government purchased the fertilizer from a third country and gave it to Nepal. A total of 30,000 tons of urea fertilizer will be imported under this consignment. The company's Bhairahawa and Biratnagar provincial offices will also receive urea fertilizer from this consignment.
Pandey said that 25,000 tons of DAP fertilizer and 30,000 tons of urea fertilizer purchased by the company through a global tender have also entered Nepal just a month ago. The DAP fertilizer was supplied by Aditya Birla Company and the urea fertilizer was supplied by India's IPL Company. He said that both consignments are being distributed based on the fertilizer quota.
He said that the potash fertilizer that the company was going to import through a global tender has reached Visakhapatnam port in India from a third country. He said that 17,500 tons of potash will be imported under this consignment, which is supplied by Kisan Traders of India.
Apart from this, the urea fertilizer purchased from a third country by Kisan Traders, which has been awarded the contract to supply 30,000 tons of urea fertilizer, has now arrived at the Kolkata port, and the consignment of 30,000 tons of urea fertilizer, which is supplied by Sun International Company, has also reached the Kolkata port, so there is a possibility that the urea fertilizer of both these consignments will also be imported within the next one month, Pandey informed.
He said that from Shrawan to Poush mid-year of the current fiscal year, 65,553 tons of urea fertilizer was imported into the company's Birgunj provincial office and 50,932 tons of urea have been mobilized in 15 districts of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces under its jurisdiction. He said that during the same period, the office imported 38,333 tons of DAP fertilizer, of which 33,807 tons of DAP fertilizer have been mobilized in the offices under its jurisdiction.
He said that the office currently has 12,600 tons of urea and 8,162 tons of DAP fertilizer in various warehouses in Birgunj. Apart from this, Pandey said that there is also 371 tons of potash in stock.
