On the occasion of the 56th anniversary of Nepal Oil Corporation Limited, he said that the decision to sell ethanol, which has been stalled for years, was only a policy decision and that further study and research is needed as it is in the initial stage.
Stating that no one should abandon institutional good governance, Minister Sinha also said that the Genji protests were held on Bhadra 23 and 24 for the same reason. 'Services and facilities against the law should not be taken regarding bonuses. Services and facilities less than the law should not be taken,' he said. He said that transparency and zero tolerance against corruption should be maintained from the new building.
Executive Director of the Corporation Dr. Chandika Bhatta said that it has been fulfilling the fuel needs of consumers in any situation. He said that the Corporation earned a profit of 13 billion out of the turnover of 367 billion last year and contributed 124 billion in revenue to the government. 'The corporation has supplied 63,000 kiloliters of petrol, 120,000 kiloliters of diesel, 2,000 kiloliters of kerosene, 18,000 kiloliters of aviation fuel and 46,000 tons of LP gas annually,' he said.
He said that the construction of the pipeline has facilitated the challenging transportation of petrol and diesel. He said that an aviation fuel depot has been constructed at Pokhara Airport and is in the process of being handed over. He said that technology has been used to address the objection that the corporation has provided less fuel.
Informing that work has started for the construction of depots in Karnali Province, he said that preparations are being made to build 37 petrol pumps in new roads and places where there are no pumps yet. He said that the depot in Sinamangal should be shifted. He said that ethanol should be used to move towards green energy. He said that the employees of the organization should be properly managed regarding the monopoly bonus. 'I am not saying that bonuses should be given. I am not saying that they should not be given, but proper management should be done,' he said.
Chairman of the Corporation's Board of Directors and Secretary of Commerce and Supplies Ram Prasad Ghimire said that the organization should develop according to the demands of the time and technology. Chairman of the Public Service Commission Madhav Prasad Regmi said that a second plan should be prepared along with the pipeline to bring petroleum supplies. 'We bring oil from different places and store it. Tankers transporting petroleum have started to be displaced. How will the supply be provided if there is a problem in the pipeline,' he said.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Industry Minister Sinha inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Corporation. For the last 8 months, the Corporation's work has been carried out through the same building. The Corporation's Prabhat souvenir was also released on the anniversary.
Deputy Executive Director of the Corporation Nagendra Shah said that consumers do not have to face a shortage of petroleum products. He said that it is 14 rupees cheaper per liter compared to the Indian market. He said that pipelines are being expanded in various places. He said that the financial condition of the Corporation is good after adopting the automatic price system.
Petroleum Products Dealers Association President Atmaram Thapa urged the Corporation to pay attention to the needs of the Corporation's dealers. He said that the commission that was maintained at Rs 9 per liter is still the same. He urged to increase the commission. Businessmen selling other goods said that they are making a lot of money by selling at a fair price and through middlemen, and they are working at the price set by the government.
LP Gas Industry Association Nepal President Krishna Bhakta Shrestha said that attention has been drawn to the fact that 14.2 kg cylinders under different capacity cylinders are being sold more than the requirement. Outgoing President of Nepal LP Gas Industry Association Shiva Prasad Regmi said that the Corporation has been in existence for 56 years amidst various ups and downs with the efforts of stakeholders. Stating that the Corporation has done the physical work, Regmi said that the transformation work should now be done.
Nepal Petroleum Transport Federation President Manoj Kumar Das said that the transportation fare is still not being paid from the PRP. 'We are adopting excellent technology but we are not getting paid,' he said. Stating that transportation work is decreasing due to the pipeline, Das said that the corporation should now diversify its business.
Nepal Petroleum Dealers National Association President Lilendra Prasad Pradhan said that the business should be diversified and enter other sectors. He understands that the use of petroleum products is decreasing. He said that the issue of ethanol blending should be started by studying the economic and commercial consumers.
Nepal Oil Corporation Independent Employees Union President Bikash Bakhti said that the increasing use of electric vehicles has started to shrink the business of petroleum products. He also informed that employees have not received bonuses as per the government's Bonus Act. He said that they have not received bonuses since 2058 BS. Various employees were honored on the occasion of the anniversary.
