Cement and clinker worth Rs 1.1964 billion have been exported in the first five months of the current fiscal year. According to the Customs Department, a total of 6687 tons of cement and clinker have been exported.
In the same period of the last fiscal year, 699,510 tons of cement and clinker worth Rs 1.04 billion were exported. The department has stated that clinker worth Rs 299.7 million and cement worth Rs 896.6 million were exported in the five months.
Cement and clinker worth Rs 2.91 billion were exported in the last fiscal year. According to the department, cement worth Rs 2.21 billion and clinker worth Rs 697.3 million were exported.
According to the department, cement and clinker are being exported from Nepal only to India. Nepal had earlier exported cement and clinker in 069/70. But after three fiscal years, it was not able to continue.
In 070/71, 545,150 kg of cement worth Rs 5.659 million was exported. The department has data that only 5,525 kg of cement worth Rs 60,200 was exported in 2071/72.
Cement exports have resumed from the fiscal year 2078/79. The department has data that 15,189 tons worth Rs 1,293,000 were exported in the fiscal year 2078/79 and 11 tons worth Rs 83,000 in 2077/78. There are 65 cement industries in the country.
