Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Bishwanath Poudel has urged businesspeople not to be discouraged by the current economic situation and to move forward with high morale.
Speaking at a program organized by Gorkhapatra Sansthan today, Governor Poudel recalled the difficult times of the past and said that the private sector has come this far after overcoming many ups and downs, and said that it should also have the courage to move forward in the present times.
According to him, there are some foundations to keep morale stable. Among them is periodic and fair elections. He said that people with less resources can stand up and win elections independently. Governor Poudel said that the fact that representatives are elected in every election from outside the traditional parties is a sign that the country is moving forward.
Governor Poudel also called for increasing investment in the productive sector. Stating that the time has come to dare to spend heavily in infrastructure sectors such as energy and transport, he clarified that they are ready to provide necessary support from the banking sector.
Governor Poudel informed that continuous discussions and negotiations are also being held with the private sector on the issue of issuing bonds. Pointing out the need for additional investment in production, transmission and distribution in the energy sector, he said that there is ample potential for large investments in transport infrastructure. He also expressed his commitment to facilitate the policy and procedural aspects of the Nepal Rastra Bank for this.
