A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) with the aim of promoting bilateral tourism and strengthening cooperation.
The MoU was signed on December 15, 2025 (Monday). The MoU was signed by TAAN President Sagar Pandey and KATA Vice President Kim Beomjae. The signing ceremony was also attended by His Excellency Park Tae-young, Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal.
According to the MoU, Nepal and Korea aim to promote bilateral tourism, enhance mutual friendship, and expand cooperation in various dimensions of the tourism sector. It is expected to further strengthen active cooperation between tourism entrepreneurs of both countries.
The signing ceremony was attended by KATA Secretary General Bae Yong-chang, Korea Association of Nepal President Cha Seung-won, and TAAN office bearers and working committee members.
According to the MoU, TAAN will collaborate with KATA and Korean travel agencies to promote Nepali tourism products and destinations, which will further encourage Korean tourists to visit Nepal. In addition, information exchange, security training, and search and rescue operations will be made effective, prioritizing the safety of Korean tourists.
TAAN will also collaborate with KATA in programs to encourage Nepali tourists who want to visit Korea. Similarly, KATA will work with TAAN to conduct various programs, campaigns and promotional activities to attract Korean tourists to Nepal.
In addition, it has been mentioned that they will provide necessary information, technology and other support for the safety of Korean trekkers and tourists and collaborate in initiatives to attract Nepali tourists to visit Korea.
Both sides have expressed their confidence that this MoU will take Nepal-Korea tourism relations to a new height. Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) is an umbrella organization of agencies active in the trekking and adventure tourism sector of Nepal.
Established in 1979, TAAN has been working with the objective of making the Nepali tourism industry organized, professional and sustainable. In collaboration with government agencies and stakeholders, TAAN has been playing an important role in tourism promotion, training, environmental protection and the development of adventure tourism.
