Nagdhunga-Naubise-Malekhu road section to be closed for five hours daily from today

What you should know

The Nagdhunga-Naubise-Malekhu road section will be closed for five hours daily from today until December 1. The road has been partially closed as the road section needs to be blacktopped and upgraded.

Although the work began by closing the road on November 24, it was decided to open the road on November 26 and 27 after complaints were received that the UML general convention was affected.

A team of the Youth Association close to the UML had met the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, and requested him not to close the road for a few days. After that, the road was opened after stopping the blacktop work for two days in the afternoon.

The Road Department has given high priority to the blacktop work of the Nagdhunga-Piplamod section of the road, which falls within Kathmandu district. Therefore, since the section is narrower than elsewhere and requires the mobilization of many heavy equipment and transportation vehicles at once, the work is being done by stopping traffic for some time, said Keshav Prasad Ojha, head of the eastern section of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project. According to him, the road will now be closed and work will be done according to the predetermined schedule.

Due to the need to widen the narrow and dangerous Pokharevhir area of the Galchhi-Gajuri section of Dhading, traffic movement is being stopped from Nagdhunga to Piplamod and in the Pokharevhir area from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm until Poush 1. The project office has requested passengers and drivers to use alternative road routes during this period.

It is stated that the traffic police will facilitate vehicles such as ambulances, security vehicles, fire engines and hearses of an essential nature. Vehicles going from Kathmandu to Naubise will be stopped at the Nagdhunga check post and vehicles coming from Muglin to Kathmandu will be stopped at Khanikhola, Naubise, Jangekhola and Thakre. Vehicles going from Naubise to Muglin will be stopped at Galchhi, Baireni and Mastar. The project office has stated that there is a plan to stop vehicles coming from Muglin to Naubise at Malekhu.

During this period, small and medium-sized vehicles can take an alternative route using the Sitapaila-Ramkot-Bhimdhunga-Dharke road, Samakhusi-Tokha-Chhahare-Trishuli (Bidur)-Galchhi road, and the Trishuli Bridge at Jarakhet via the Trishuli Bridge at Ghatbesi, according to the traffic police.
